This involves learning how to create a 9-head figure, draw your garment design on the figure, and rendering that design to portray a certain textile, texture, and print. To successfully communicate your design through a fashion illustration, you first need to learn how to speak the language. ![]() Refine the sketch by erasing all the unnecessary lines. By adding these details, you give the viewer a better understanding of what the final product will look like. Design details refer to both functional and decorative seams, volume like pleats and frills, fastenings like buttons and zips, and any other details from necklines, collar, and pockets to stitch details like embroidery. Alcohol markers blend beautifully with other alcohol markers. You also need to really make sure you pay close attention to what your fineliners are made of. It can also really wreck/stain your lighter marker shades like yellows, light skin tones or pastels. ![]() You'll want to outline first in a fineliner, then erase all remaining graphite because if you color OVER graphite with your alcohol markers, the underlying graphite will smear.
